Snapchat used to be considered the “sexting app” and was thought to be used only by teens. But recent stats show 84 percent of Snapchat users are between the ages of 16-34 years old.

Business owners and entrepreneurs may consider Snapchat “evasive” and are unsure about how to even to use the app. But if used correctly (and with a little fun) it can work in our favour — especially when it comes to promoting and growing our businesses.

If you’re still on the fence about creating an account, or are not sure how to use Snapchat as part of your overall social media marketing strategy, below are 5 ways to use Snapchat to promote your business.

Special Events

As a business owner you’re consistently networking and attending events. So it’s only right for you to showcase a sneak-peek of what your audience may be missing.

We aren’t talking about showing off that you’re at an A-list party, but instead showing your audience what makes this event so special such as guests speakers, grand openings, workshops, cool stunts, a great DJ or just a really great buffet.

Keep’ Em Talking!

To keep your audience coming back for more generate some buzz. Since Snapchat only gives viewers 10 seconds worth of video, give your audience a teaser on services, offers, product release or an ad campaign that you may be working on. This will create some level of excitement among your potential customers.

Behind-The-Scenes

Who doesn’t love a good behind-the-scenes footage? Snapchat is based off of curiosity, so why not take your audience with you through your journey. You’re basically giving an exclusive to your followers and allowing them to access bits and pieces of the life of your business or brand.

Short and Sweet

Keep your videos as short as possible. Engage with your audience by creating an attractive story line about your brand, services or products. Give them quick engagement and they will consume readily!

Have a Little Fun!

Don’t be afraid to add personally into your snaps. Try to keep them simple and professional. Remember each snap is a reflection of you and your brand — create your persona and run with it…oh and add a cute emoji if you please!
