5 Squarespace Websites That We Love

Whether you need a website, portfolio, blog, or an online store, it’s all included with Squarespace. We’ve rounded up 5 Squarespace websites that we love.

We are big fans of Squarespace. So much so that we built the See Girl Work Marketing & Branding website on it (the See Girl Work blog is built on WordPress).

Plus we love customizing Squarespace websites and blogs for our clients. In fact, we’ve just been accepted into the Squarespace Circle community. Being a member of Circle means we can offer our clients six-month trial periods, instead of the standard two weeks. We’ll also have access to expert insights, advanced guides and product release notes.

Whether you need a landing page, business website, portfolio, photo gallery, a professional-looking blog, or an online store, it’s all included with your Squarespace website. From domains, hosting and mobile-ready templates, everything is included with Squarespace.

As such, we thought we’d round-up 5 Squarespace websites that we love.

5 Squarespace Websites That We Love

Create and Cultivate

I visit the Create and Cultivate website just about every other day to read their blog articles. Not only am I a big fan of their editorial content and hope to one day make it out to one of their events, but I love the layout and aesthetic of their site. It’s clean with lots of white space — but fun and pretty at the same time.

I’ve written about blogger, Mattie James and her site before. She’s one of my favourite bloggers. She mixes beauty and fashion posts with content (webinars, podcasts, tutorials) that’s focused on the business of blogging. Her Squarespace website begins with a great landing page and the blog itself looks like it was built using the Haute template from Squarespace. I love the oversized featured images and extra large post titles. Again, lots of white space which is so signature to Squarespace.

R29 Creative

Refinery29 is a guide to modern ad stylish living. But you might not have yet discovered R29 Creative, the art department at Refinery29. Through original design, photography, illustration, video and events, R29 Creative creates visual narratives and experiences. They built their website with the template Avenue. With whimsical, fun and creative images, animation, photography and gifs, the site serves as a wickedly inspiring cross between my dream Instagram feed and my dream Tumblr feed.

I first fell in love with Girlboss via the podcast series. But their website is just as cool. Presented by Girlboss author, Sophia Amoruso, the website is built with the Fulton template. Again here, I love all the white space, lots of fun photography and easy navigation on both desktop and smartphone.

See Girl Work Marketing & Branding

Of course, I couldn’t do a Squarespace round-up without giving honourable mentions to the See Girl Work website. The most important thing to me when creating our own space was to make it clear, efficient and easy to follow through to either call or click. As an aspiring new business, I wanted people to be able to instantly “get it” in 2.0 seconds. I also wanted a visual way to walk users through the navigation. Almost like standing on an escalator and, without moving, be able to virtually move through all the departments, viewing all the offerings in a seamless, easy way. The See Girl Work Marketing & Branding website was built using the Marquee template.

Other Perks

In addition to being loved by creatives, bloggers and other content publishers, search engines also love Squarespace websites. Their templates include clean article links, proper tagging, XML sitemaps, and valid XHTML code. All without you having to know what any of that even means.
Your website must have a narrative, tell a story and walk your users through each action. Click To Tweet
The one thing to keep in mind though;  whether you use Squarespace, WordPress or another online platform — you could have the best website template in the world — it won’t matter without great content.

All the sites listed above make heavy use of photography, graphics and editorial. Your website must have a narrative, it must tell a story and must easily walk your users through the actions you want them to take in order to convert them into readers, followers, listeners, fans, customers or clients.
