Set up healthy habits that will allow you to be successful and productive for the day and week ahead. Here are 5 healthy habits every woman should have.

Did you wake up this morning, go for a run, plank for 10 minutes, eat egg whites and pack your own lunch? No? Cool. You’re right here with the rest of us.

As women business owners, we are always striving to work hard in order to build a business that is sustainable. But after years of working for “someone else” I know the difference between working hard and working smart.

I’ve also learned how to set up healthy habits that will make me successful and productive for the day and week ahead.

Whether you start to adopt a few at a time, or vow to make them all a part of your life right now, below are 5 healthy habits every woman should have for a more productive day.

Get Enough Quality Sleep

Pulling all-nighters while working on your business is probably standard (especially if you have a day job), but it’s not the best idea for keeping you on your toes during the day.

When you must pull an all-nighter, try to squeeze in a 1 to 2 hour nap the next day to make some of the difference and to ensure that you can function properly.

Entrepreneurship and getting enough sleep sound almost hilarious. But we all know the importance of getting enough sleep. Good sleeping habits will help you throughout life.

Stay Hydrated

Essential water intake is very important to fitness but is unfortunately not understood by many. Remember if you are feeling thirsty that means you are already dehydrated. Dehydration can make you more vulnerable to illness and infection.

How to do it: Invest in a water bottle that you’ll actually use—and keep it close. Infuse your water with fruits, vegetables or herbs. Mix juice with sparkling water. Evening using a straw can help keep you motivated to drink plenty of water and stay hydrated.

Start a Fitness Routine

This is a tough one for me! Before I started trying to make a business for myself, I used to be really into fitness. But now I sit behind a computer for the better part of the day, which means I don’t get to move around a lot.

A few weeks back, I decided enough is enough! Now I’m making it a goal to make this my healthiest summer ever and I’m about a three weeks into my fitness journey.

If you work at your desk all day, try to be at the gym before 9AM. Getting it done first thing in the morning gives me the energy and stamina I need to plow through the rest of the day.

Eat Healthy Meals

Many of us opt to grab a packet of corn chips when we’re rushing to a meeting on an empty stomach or order a pizza for dinner when we can’t fathom leaving our laptops in order to actually cook. But trying to maintain such a routine will eventually lead you to crash.

Meal prepping saves me from nibbling on unhealthy snacks throughout the day while I’m working. When you meal prep, you don’t have to put pressure on yourself to finish up that proposal in order to start dinner.

Meal prepping also ensures that you are eating healthy meals and you’ll be more likely to get your groceries done on time when you have a meal prep day coming up.

Overall healthy eating habits can improve your mood, boost your energy, controls your weight and improves longevity.

Take a Warm Bath

A warm soak in a comfortable bath provides the perfect environment for relaxing. Add a relaxing scent to your bubbly bath with a couple of drops of essential oil such as lavender, bergamot, vanilla or cedarwood will encourage natural relaxation.

The hot water encourages deep muscle relaxation to ease cramps, prevent tension headaches and improve muscle elasticity. The heat of the steam stimulates the immune system and improves health.

An improved immune system will help your body fight bacteria and viruses which means less coughs and colds.

The Take Away

As a creative entrepreneur, it’s super easy to spend all of your time and energy working on your business that your health falls to the wayside. I’m guilty, for sure! But let’s be in this together.

Which new habits are you going to implement this summer? Let me know in the comments below!
